Dawn Sim is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon in medical retina and cataract at Moorfields Eye Hospital, and a former chief resident and current clinical lead for diabetic screening there. She has a PhD from the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology for her work on endothelial progenitor cells in retinal vascular diseases and has published extensively on diabetic macular ischemia. She also has a special interest in the area of virtual clinics and teleophthalmology and is working on device-agnostic platforms to facilitate acceleration of new technology into clinical practice.

An ARVO Alcon Early Career Research Award winner in 2016, Dawn is a patent holder for the use of Indocyanine Green Dye for visualization of inflammation. A prolific and successful grant-raiser, Dawn also won the Dermot Pierse prize in 2009 and the 2009 Young Investigator's Award at Asia ARVO in 2007.

Dr Saihan is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, UK where he is also training director for the Medical Retina service. He works in both the Medical Retina and Cataract services.

"The diabetic retinopathy screening workshop will provide an insight into the long term implications of diabetes, with the main focus on ocular complications, more specifically diabetic retinopathy. As diabetic retinopathy is a major avoidable cause of blindness, that occurs as a result of long-term accumulated damage to the small blood vessels in the retina, it is an important health priority. The workshop will showcase the progress in the development of the National Screening Programme across Jamaica over the last year and touch on the challenges that lie ahead. Diabetes will be discussed as a multi-factorial condition needing an approach from a multi-disciplinary team to successfully combat it's effects.

The workshop should provide you with a better understanding of diabetes and how you can educate those around you on everyday lifestyle changes that could make a huge impact. There will be demonstrations on how to carry out diabetic retinal screening by the trainees currently enrolled in the International Certificate in Diabetic Retinopathy Screening & Grading, and a rundown of the entire screening process, from initial encounter with a diabetic nurse or general practitioner to diagnosis of disease and treatment plan. There will be an overview of recent developments in the field in terms of treatment and systemic management."

Dr. Ali is the Interim Ophthalmologist-in-Chief at The Hospital for Sick Children's Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences and holds the rank of Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. Following a B.A.Sc. Degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Waterloo, he completed his medical degree and residency training in Ophthalmology at the University of Toronto. He then went on to further postgraduate training with separate fellowships in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and Cornea and External Disease at Washington University, St. Louis, USA. Since returning to Canada, his practice and clinical research have focused on glaucoma and cornea/external disease disorders in children, as well as paediatric cataract and other anterior segment abnormalities.

At SickKids, Ali is also the Co-Director of the Paediatric Cornea Fellowship, as well Director of Clinical Services for Ophthalmology. In the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at the University of Toronto he is the Fellowship Director and Chief of the Paediatric Service.

Dr. Harmeet S. Gill is a double board-certified oculofacial plastic surgeon that specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgical and non-surgical procedures of the eyelids, brows, and face. He is committed to providing exceptional, natural results catered to the customized needs of each individual, while ensuring the treatment experience is relaxed and enjoyable. Dr. Gill is unique as one of a handful of surgeons with highly focused expertise in ophthalmology (eye surgery) and facial plastic surgery. Dr. Matthew Bujak is a double board certified ophthalmologist practicing in the Greater Toronto Area. He completed his ophthalmology training at University of Toronto after which he opted to pursue two consecutive fellowships in Cornea, external ocular disease and refractive surgery at renowned centers in the United States. He has developed a practice specializing in corneal disease, cataract surgery, and refractive surgery but welcomes all ophthalmology referrals. He provides all forms of cataract surgery, from standard lenses to premium astigmatism lenses and ultrasound based to laser assisted cataract surgery. Similarly his cornea procedures range from traditional full thickness corneal transplants to the newest laser assisted lamellar corneal transplants.

He is currently a lecturer at University of Toronto and operates both at St.Michael's Hospital and Kensington Eye Institute. He is fluent in English, French and Polish. He received a University wide Humanitarian award for his dedication to patient care. He has a strong interest in international development. As co-director of International Ophthalmology he plans to further expand University of Toronto's role in the developing world.

Dr. Matthew B. Schlenker is an Assistant Professor and University of Toronto Glaucoma, Cataract, & Anterior Segment Surgeon at Kensington Eye Institute Center and Toronto Western Hospital. He received his Bachelor's Degree Magna Cum Laude in Economics from Yale University and then worked as a Financial Analyst at Bear Stearns and a Business Analyst at McKinsey & Co. He received his MD with Honours and Ophthalmology training where he was a Chief resident at the University of Toronto. He then completed a Glaucoma and Advanced Anterior Segment Fellowship with Dr. Ike Ahmed and a Master of Science in Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health.

Research interests include observational study design and big data projects related to functional outcomes following cataract and glaucoma surgery, glaucoma surgery comparative analysis, glaucoma and cataract outcome predictive modelling, eye health economics, and other health systems research.

Dr. Radha Kohly received her MD from McMaster University and completed an Ophthalmology Residency at the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at the University of Toronto. She is a fellowship-trained medical retina specialist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and an assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at the University of Toronto. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the vitreous and retina.

Dr. Kohly obtained a fellowship in medical retina from Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, England after completing her residency in ophthalmology at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Kohly also has a special interest in the diagnosis and management of inherited retinal diseases and uveitis. She is involved in the screening and treatment of retinopathy of prematurity in the Women & Babies program at Sunnybrook. She performs cataract surgery, with a special interest in patients with retinal diseases. She enjoys teaching and is an important contributor to the post-graduate education of ophthalmology residents.

Dr. Rajeev Muni has been a staff Vitreoretinal Surgeon at St. Michael's Hospital, The Hospital for Sick Children and the Kensington Eye Institute for the past eight years. Dr. Muni completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Toronto followed by a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery. He was awarded a Detweiler Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada for advanced training in Paediatric Vitreoretinal Surgery at the University of Southern California. Dr. Muni went on to complete a Masters Degree in Clinical Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health.

Since joining the University of Toronto, Dr. Muni has been the Director of Resident Research and the Chair of the Annual Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences Annual Research Day. He has also served as the Director of Retina Fellow Research at St. Michael's Hospital since 2009 and has recently initiated a Vitreoretinal Clinical Research Fellowship at the University of Toronto. He also sits on the KEI Research Committee. Dr. Muni has been the recipient of several teaching awards over the years including the Dr. Clive Mortimer Executive Award for Excellence in Postgraduate Teaching, the J.S Crawford Teaching Award, and several St. Michael's Hospital Ophthalmology Teaching Awards. He has remained active in clinical research with a keen interest in randomized clinical trials for retinal detachment repair and prospective studies investigating the use of ocular fluid biomarkers to predict disease severity and treatment response for common Vitreoretinal conditions.

Michael Boyne is a Professor of Endocrinology & Metabolism at the Department of Medicine and the Caribbean Institute for Health Research (formerly Tropical Medicine Research Institute), The University of the West Indies and an Honorary Consultant at the University Hospital of the West Indies. He received a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry and his medical degree (MB.BS) from The University of the West Indies. After his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia Roanoke/Salem Program, he completed a 3-year fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

He was board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of Canada, Edinburgh and London. His research interests include the roles of early life factors, adipocytokines, and cortisol in the development of the metabolic syndrome. He is a member of several associations including the Endocrine Society, Developmental Origins of Health and Disease, and the Caribbean Endocrine Association. He is the current president of the Association of Consultant Physicians of Jamaica.

Prof. Jennifer Knight-Madden completed medical school at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. Her postgraduate training included a residency in Pediatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto and a Pediatric Pulmonolgy Fellowship and MSc in Biometry at Duke University Medical School. She then completed her PhD at Kings College, London which examined the role of asthma in the pulmonary complication of sickle cell disease. She is currently undertaking a certificate in Implementation Science at the University of California San Francisco. She is the Director of the Sickle Cell Unit, Caribbean for Health Institute Research, University of the West Indies. She is the author of two book chapters and several articles in peer reviewed journals. She is passionate about making newborn screening and early childhood care for affected children available to all Jamaican, and indeed Caribbean, children.

Dr. Stacy Davis is a graduate of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of the West Indies, Mona where she obtained her MBBS in 2001. During her medical training she was a recipient of the Bustamante Foundation Award and Shell Company West Indies Jamaica Limited Scholarship. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Virginia/Carilion Clinic and her Rheumatology fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia.

Dr Davis has published papers on various autoimmune diseases including sarcoidosis, demyelinating disease associated with biologic therapy and osteoporosis along with presenting at many conferences. She was a Faculty speaker for Abbott Pharmaceutical Company while practicing in the USA.

She is currently board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. She is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and the Caribbean Association of Rheumatology. She is also a past member of the UWI Medical Alumni Association, Central Florida Chapter and the Florida Society of Rheumatology. She is immediate past president of the Lupus Foundation of Jamaica.

Dr. Davis is a part time consultant in the Department of Medicine at the University Hospital of the West Indies and also cares for patients in private practice. She manages patients with general rheumatologic disorders including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, degenerative disc disease, gout, Sjogrens, vasculitis, bursitis, inflammatory spondyloarthropathies, sarcoidosis, uveitis and osteoporosis.

Dr. Leo-Rhynie graduated from the University of the West Indies with an MBBS. She went to Glasgow, Scotland where she studied Ophthalmology, and attained FRCOphth.
She returned to Jamaica, and worked at the Kingston Public Hospital.
She now has a private, general ophthalmology practice in New Kingston.

Dr Mowatt is a graduate of the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, Jamaica. She did her postgraduate studies in Ophthalmology at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, Birmingham, UK. After completion of her Ophthalmology training, she did a Vitreoretinal surgery fellowship in Birmingham, England, before returning to Jamaica.

She has presented in international, regional and local scientific conferences and published in several peer reviewed scientific journals including writing 2 book chapters. In 2013 she received the American Academy of Ophthalmologist's (AAO) International Ophthalmologist Education Award and was awarded the AAO's International Scholar Award in 2015.

Presently she is the Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI), Head, Ophthalmic Division, UHWI, Senior Lecturer and Programme co ordinator for the DM Ophthalmology residency programme at the University of the West Indies (Mona). She is the immediate Past President of Ophthalmological Society of the West Indies (OSWI) and is the present President of the Ophthalmological Society of Jamaica (OSJ). Her sub specialty interests are in Diabetic and Sickle Cell retinopathy.

Dr. Hugh Vaughan attended Kingston College, and graduated from UWI Medical School. He began Ophthalmology at UWI, and later became a registrar at KPH in 1976.
He went to the UK to pursue postgraduate qualifications, and attained his FRCS in 1978. He worked as a Consultant at the Royal Victoria Eye Infirmary in Paisley, Scotland, before returning to Jamaica to work at the Kingston Public Hospital. Dr. Vaughan made huge strides in modernizing the practice of Ophthalmology with teaching and innovation.
He now works in private practice and continues to teach us all.

Dr. Claudine Green was born in St Andrew, Jamaica

She shares private practice with her husband Dr. Selbourne Hemmings an ENT Head and Neck Surgeon at The Eye Ear Nose and Throat Centre located at Freeport Shopping Centre, Freeport, Montego Bay. Amelia has 18 years of INGO experience. Her principal focus has been program design, management and implementation in the public health sector. Past programs have included water and sanitation, public private partnerships, nutrition, maternal newborn and child head, and eye care. In all of these areas, Amelia has specifically focused on interventions that target children under-five and the related influencers to their health and well-being.
For the past 11 years, Amelia has managed portfolios with a strong emphasis on innovation, training and capacity building for medical professionals, hospital administrators and NGO professionals. Previous to joining Orbis, Amelia has worked with several emergency and development organizations, including Action Against Hunger - USA, the United Nations Development Program, the World Bank Water and Sanitation program, and Concern Worldwide. Amelia has implemented projects throughout Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean and has lived in Senegal, Kenya, South Africa, Sierra Leone and Peru.

Maria Jose completed her 3-year residency in ophthalmology at the Asociacion Para Evitar la Ceguera in Mexico also known as APEC. In 2013, she started her subspecialty year in anterior segment of the eye which mostly refers to complicated and difficult cataract surgery; she participates in campaigns to do free cataract surgery in places that do not often have access to it.

Maria was the teaching chief in a hospital in Mexico City in 2016 where she oversaw the subspecialty in cataract surgery. Her major interests are cataract surgery and glaucoma. Maria joined the FEH team January 2017. Since then she has successfully led programs in Bangladesh, Barbados and Mongolia and participated in FEH programs in Vietnam, Cameroon, China, Ethiopia and Peru.
Maria became the FEH head ophthalmologist in November 2018 , in her new role she now oversees the ophthalmology component of every FEH program.

Dr. Cernichiaro Espinosa is an ophthalmologist specializing in Retina and Vitreous and Pediatric Retina. Currently she co-directs a Pediatric Retina unit at a major ophthalmological referral center in Mexico City. She also runs a private practice at Oftalmologia Integral and Retina Kids Mx also focused on retinal pathologies such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, retinopathy of prematurity, retinoblastoma and age-related macular degeneration. Her main focus is to integrate ophthalmological management with the systemic state in a multi-disciplinary manner. She has authored several indexed articles and book chapters concerning retinal diseases in pediatrics.

Jacqueline obtained a nursing diploma from Johannesburg Hospital Training School for Nurses in South Africa in 1988. Dr Mowatt is a UK trained Vitreoretinal Surgeon. She is the OSJ President (2015-2019). Previously President of OSWI (2012-2014), Head of the Ophthalmology Division at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) and Programme co-ordinator of the DM Ophthalmology Residency programme (Mona campus), University of the West Indies. First joining the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital as a volunteer in 2012 then as the staff Allied Health Technician in 2018, she has conducted training programs for ophthalmic officers, nurses, assistants, technicians, and residents all over the world. She is also actively involved in training assistants and technicians at her home base --Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. From basic anatomy and history taking to advanced diagnostics and imaging, Kim loves to provide new and established ophthalmic personnel with a solid foundation, skills, and continuing education for the important role of taking care of people's eyes.

Miss Alana Calise, Program Manager, Flying Eye Hospital, holds a Master of Public Health degree in Global Health from the Boston University School of Public Health. Alana has over five years of experience working in the public health care sector for NGOs. Her principal experience includes designing, managing, implementing, and monitoring public health projects in development and clinical environments. Alana's past roles have focused on Maternal & Child Health, Sexual & Reproductive Rights, and Infectious Disease Treatment & Prevention. Dr. Hunter is a graduate of the University of the North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his MD at Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Hunter completed his ophthalmology residency at Emory University where he served as chief resident. After completing his residency, he spent 6 years with ORBIS International as a staff ophthalmologist and medical director on board the DC-10 Flying Eye Hospital and has worked in over 25 countries. Dr. Hunter rejoined Orbis and the FEH team in 2017 as the Deputy Chief of Clinical Services. His research and career interests include international blindness prevention programs, distance learning, telemedicine, and surgical training. Dr. Hunter got promoted in December 2018 as the Vice President of Clinical Services; in this role, he continues to oversee the FEH, Telehealth, and Hospital Based Trainings while focusing on his passion and mission to fight avoidable blindness around the world.

Maurice worked on emergency and post-conflict programs while focusing on emergency distribution management. He also served as a Logistics Advisor providing support on international procurement and logistics best practices to multiple INGO country offices. Maurice has qualifications in Humanitarian Logistics and Medical Supply Chain Management from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, UK. With over 20 years of experience in ophthalmology, Antonio graduated from University of Antioquia Medical School in 1997 and worked as a general practitioner for one year. Antonio completed his 3-year residency in Ophthalmology in 2002 and joined San Vicente de Paul Fundacion Hospital, one of the biggest major trauma hospitals in Colombia where he was involved in emergencies, trauma surgeries and other specialties. Antonio also participated in major campaigns screening diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma cases in Columbia. He also worked for a charity named Fundacion San Vicente de Paul for 8 years serving for the underprivileged communities. Antonio was also a Corneal fellow at Queen Victoria Hospital, UK. Antonio is interested in cornea and ocular surface pathologies. Antonio joined Orbis and the FEH team in June 2014.

Dr. Leo-Rhynie graduated from the University of the West Indies with an MBBS. She went to Glasgow, Scotland where she studied Ophthalmology, and attained FRCOphth.
She returned to Jamaica, and worked at the Kingston Public Hospital.
She now has a private, general ophthalmology practice in New Kingston.

Research interests in the UK included the management of limbal stem cell deficiency and use of glaucoma drainage devices.

Peter Gordon Moore, MB BS, PhD, FANZCA, FCICM

Dr. Moore is a practicing academic anesthesiologist with over 40 years of clinical experience with specialty expertise in critical care medicine, trauma care, pediatric anesthesia, cardiothoracic anesthesia and all aspects of general/regional anesthesia.
Dr. Moore is a medical graduate of The University of Sydney School of Medicine (1971) with a Ph.D. in Human Physiology from The University of Newcastle Faculty of Medicine in cardiovascular physiology.
Dr. Moore is a Fellow of the Faculty of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and a Fellow of the College of Intensive Care Medicine. Following postgraduate training, Dr. Moore served as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of California in San Francisco in 1977-8.
Dr. Moore was appointed as a Staff Specialist in Intensive Care and Anesthesia at the Royal Newcastle Hospital (RNH) in Newcastle, Australia from November 1978 to February 1990. He was appointed Director of Intensive at the RNH in 1983, which also encompassed serving as the medical director for aeromedical transport for the Hunter Health Region in NSW.
Dr. Moore took up an academic appointment at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine wherein he practiced as a research scientist, critical care specialist, cardiothoracic anesthesiologist, pediatric anesthesiologist.
Dr. Moore was appointed as the Chair of the Department responsible for all clinical teaching and research programs in anesthesiology and pain medicine at UC Davis Health from 1996 to 2016.
Dr. Moore was the Founding Medical Director of the Center for Virtual Care, a major center for simulation education at UC Davis Health.
Dr. Moore was appointed an Emeritus Professor on retirement in July 2018 and continues to practice anesthesiology at UC Davis and with Orbis International Flying Eye Hospital.
Dr. Moore has international experience having served as a volunteer anesthesiologist and teacher in Malaysia, China, Bangladesh, Vietnam, the Philippines, Panama, Barbados, Cameroon, Jamaica, Ghana and Peru.
Dr. Moore has an abiding interest in patient safety in the perioperative period, which has directed much of his research, administrative and clinical activities and his commitment to medical simulation and training.

Mr Louis Bolter, BA, MSc (Hons) works as Programme Manager at Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, London, of the North East London Diabetes Eye Screening Programme. North East London is the second largest diabetes eye screening programme in England. The programme is based in one of the most deprived areas of the country and achieves excellent uptake. Louis has been programme manager for six years in which time it has more than doubled in size. In 2017 he obtained a Masters in diabetic retinopathy screening from Warwick Medical School, ,winning a Faculty Award. Louis is part of the VISION 2020 Links project representing Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust with partners in Jamaica.

Clinical Optometrist & Assistant Clinical Manager for NELDESP, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Having worked as an Optometrist for almost 20 years, Vaishali has had wide-ranging experience within the field of Optometry. She has worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital within the Congenital Cataract service fitting contact lenses to newborns. She also has experience in triaging community ophthalmology referrals from General Practitioners before referring on appropriate patients to the Hospital Eye Service. Furthermore, Vaishali has enjoyed the opportunity to help set up a community glaucoma service for patients with the condition who are stable.
At the Homerton Hospital, Vaishali is involved in organising Multi-Disciplinary Training days where the team has a chance to get together, share knowledge, exchange experiences and listen to interesting talks from outside key note speakers. She is also a senior retinal grader and uses the process of arbitration to help encourage teamwork within the grading team and foster an environment in which hard work and commitment is valued.
In her spare time she coaches both cricket and hockey and as a head coach works hard to promote self-belief and aspiration which she feels are fundamental to learning new skills and excelling at any level.

OSJ President

Dr Mowatt is a UK trained Vitreoretinal Surgeon. She is the OSJ President (2015-2019). Previously President of OSWI (2012-2014), Head of the Ophthalmology Division at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) and Programme co-ordinator of the DM Ophthalmology Residency programme (Mona campus), University of the West Indies. She is actively involved in training medical students and residents. Her focus has included improving the quality of Eye Care in Jamaica and continued training not only of doctors but of Ophthalmic nurses and Ophthalmic assistants. She has worked with VISION 2020 Links to establish the first Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Programme at the UHWI and has assisted with training and certification of the Ministry of Health's Diabetic Retinopathy screeners and graders. Dr Mowatt has presented at local, regional and international conferences (USA, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia). She has published in several peer reviewed scientific journals including writing several book chapters. Her subspecialist area is retina within which she has a special interest in Diabetic retinopathy.

Dr. Antonio Jaramillo is an ophthalmologist from Colombia. He worked for 10 years at the University of Antioquia and the San Vicente Fundacion Hospital in Medellin, Colombia, where he managed eye casualties and trained residents in eye trauma, general clinics and cataract surgery. He moved to the United Kingdom in 2012 and worked in the Cornea service of the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead for 7 months before joining Orbis International and the Flying Eye Hospital in 2014.

Since joining the FEH in 2014 Dr. Antonio has worked as a staff Ophthalmologist leading programs in Mongolia, Peru, Vietnam, Cameroon, China, Ghana and then he was promoted to Head of Clinical Services where he supervises all the FEH clinical services, trainings and he manages all the clinical staff. As the Head of Clinical he is also responsible of maintaining the FEH accreditation.

Mr Sreekantam graduated from India and completed speciality training in Ophthalmology in the United Kingdom. He undertook fellowship training in Uveitis under Professor Philip Murray and Professor Nicholas Jones. Mr Sreekantam is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London, and a Member of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons in Edinburgh and Ireland.
Mr Sreekantam is currently working as a Consultant Ophthalmologist in Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, with a specialist interest in Uveitis. He is also the Ophthalmology lead in the National Centre of Excellence for Beh?et’s Syndrome, Birmingham. Mr Sreekantam has a keen interest in teaching and training juniors. He is also the Lead for the Postgraduate Teaching for Ophthalmology in West Midlands, UK.

She is an accreditation surveyor and helps to prepare hospitals and surgery centers achieve regulatory compliance. Trained as a registered nurse, Dr. Dean received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio and her Master of Business Administration – focusing in Economics and Health Administration from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. She then completed her PhD in Organizational Management, with a dissertation focusing on Critical Success Factors of Medicare Certified Ambulatory Surgery Centers: A Qualitative Collective Case Study.

Dr. Dean is an active member of the ophthalmic and nursing community and capacity development within the Americas and the Caribbean, and is a senior member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses – amongst other members. She is one of the editors of the Ophthalmic nursing textbooks, Essentials of Ophthalmic Nursing. She is also a volunteer faculty on Orbis, the flying eye hospital and frequently travels with ORBIS around the world.

Dr Eduardo Mora graduated from the University of Panama Medical School in 2007 and obtained his degree in ophthalmology from San Cecilio Hospital, Granada, Spain in 2014. In 2015. Eduardo completed his fellowship in Oculoplastics at the Asociación para Evitar la Ceguera (APEC), in México and he practiced at Luis Fábrega Hospital from 2015 to 2019. He joined the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital in 2019 as a staff Ophthalmologist and is professor at the Latin University Medical School, where he developed the Ophthalmology program.

Dr Jeannine Nelson-Imoru

Dr. Imoru completed her undergraduate studies in 2001 and went on to pursue postgraduate studies in Ophthalmology at the University of the West Indies where she graduated in 2014. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and since 2013 has been a Clinical Tutor & Research Supervisor for the University of Edinburgh. She is also member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

Dr. Imoru is an Ophthalmologist at the Mandeville regional Hospital and she has her private practice in Black River, St. Elizabeth. She is also the current President of the Ophthalmological Society of Jamaica. Her most satisfying role is being a mother to her two wonderful children.

Dr. McLeod is Chief Executive Officer for the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Professor and Chair Emeritus in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco. He attended Manchester High School and Munro College in Jamaica, after which he completed his undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College in the U.S.. He obtained his medical doctorate degree at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine followed by ophthalmology residency at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary of the University of Illinois in Chicago and fellowship training in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery at the Doheny Eye Institute.

Following his initial faculty appointment at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary, Dr. McLeod moved to the University of California San Francisco Department of Ophthalmology and the Francis I. Proctor Foundation where he rose through the ranks to become Department Chair, a position he held for 17 years before stepping down to become CEO for the American Academy of Ophthalmology

Dr. McLeod’s clinical specialty is in refractive surgery, cornea and external disease. His research interests include the study of improved strategies for diagnosis and management of eye infections both in the U.S. and in the developing world, as well as the development of advanced cataract and refractive surgery technology.

Dr. McLeod is former Chair of the Ophthalmic Devices Panel of the Medical Devices Advisory Committee of the Food and Drug Administration. He has served as a member of the National Advisory Eye Council of the National Institutes of Health, on the Council of the American Ophthalmological Society, and on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Ophthalmology and the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Research to Prevent Blindness. Dr. McLeod is former Editor-in-Chief for the AAO’s flagship peer review journal Ophthalmology.

Clara C. Chan, MD, FRCSC, FACS

Dr. Chan is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Toronto and the President of the Canadian Cornea Society. She teaches fellows as part of the Cornea fellowship program and is the Medical Director of the Eye Bank of Canada, Ontario Division. She has published more than 110 peer-reviewed papers, received the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award in 2015, serves on the Cornea Clinical Committee of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and is a Cornea Section Editor for the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology and the Cornea Editor for the Eyeworld magazine. Most recently, Dr. Chan was included in The 2021 Ophthalmologist Power List, recognizing the top 100 most influential global female figures in ophthalmology.

Alana L. Grajewski, M.D. is Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She hold the Kolokotrones Chair in Ophthalmology and is the Director & Chair of The Samuel & Ethel Balkan International Pediatric Glaucoma Center. Dr. Grajewski is and founder and president of the Childhood Glaucoma Research Network (CGRN), a network dedicated to the physicians and scientists who care for children with glaucoma worldwide. Grajewski received her undergraduate education at Stanford University where she graduated with Honors and attended the Chicago Medical School, graduating summa cum laude. She completed her ophthalmology training at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia followed by a two-year fellowship in glaucoma at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Grajewski is a recipient of the Honor and Senior Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the President’s Award from the American Glaucoma Society. She has been recognized nationally and internationally for her work in childhood glaucoma. In 2014 she received the Noel Rice Lectureship from the United Kingdom Pediatric Glaucoma Society, an international association of physicians sub-specialized in pediatric glaucoma. Since 1995, Grajewski has been selected as one of the Best Doctors in America each year. She is the recipient of the Woman of Vision award by the Weitzmann Institute of Science in Israel.

While Dr. Grajewski has been a leader in the care of adults with glaucoma, she is a pioneer in the field of childhood glaucoma. She established The GL Foundation for Children with Glaucoma in 1996 and in 2014, established the first international center for children with glaucoma, The Samuel & Ethel Balkan International Pediatric Glaucoma Center. Core to the mission of The Balkan Center in 2018 Dr. Grajewski founded Global Eye SITE®, an innovative program for training physicians from underserved regions. These surgeons return to their region to care for children locally and to then train other physicians. Following the success of this educational program, in 2019 Dr. Grajewski began a novel early screening program, SEE, screening everyone everywhere as a part of the larger initiative, PPB, Pediatric Preventable Blindness initiative which launched in Suriname.

Dr. Grajewski’s vision to provide an integrated care model for the treatment of childhood glaucoma, and a comprehensive center to coordinate research and train young physicians at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, has resulted in saving the vision of thousands of children in South Florida, the United States, and throughout the world.

Dr Lizette Mowatt MB; BS (UWI), MMedSci, FRCS (Ed), FRCOphth is a Senior Lecturer and Residency Programme Coordinator for the DM Ophthalmology programme at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona campus. She is the Head of the Ophthalmology Division at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) and a Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon. Dr Mowatt is the immediate Past President of the Ophthalmological Society of Jamaica (OSJ).

Dr Mowatt is a graduate of the University of the West Indies, Mona campus. She did her six-year ophthalmology residency at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Center, Birmingham, West Midlands Training Programme, UK. During her residency, she also did a Masters initially in Medical Education, then transferred to a Masters in Medical Sciences.

She completed her ophthalmology residency training achieving the Certification of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST, UK) in Ophthalmology (2002) and then proceeded to do her vitreoretinal fellowship at the BMEC. She returned to the University of the West Indies, Mona, to develop the DM Ophthalmology Residency Programme in September 2004, which has grown significantly over the past 18 years. She has been involved in undergraduate and postgraduate training at the UWI during this period.

Dr Mowatt has published extensively in peer-review journals and has been a reviewer for over 17 ophthalmology journals, including Eye, BJO, Ophthalmology Retina, BMJ (Open), European Journal of Ophthalmology, etc. She has written three book chapters. Dr Mowatt was part of The Lancet Global Health Commission on Global Eye Health.

She is an avid educator and has presented over 100 lectures at scientific conferences locally, regionally and internationally, including in the UK, Spain, Cyprus, (Durban and Cape Town) South Africa, Ethiopia, Mexico and USA. For her research on diabetic retinopathy, she won the Dean's Award in 2013 and the most Impactful presentation at the Ministry of Health and Wellness, National Health Research Conference in 2016.

In 2013, Dr Mowatt was awarded The American Academy of Ophthalmology's (AAO) "International Ophthalmologist Education Award" and, in 2015, the AAO's "International Scholar's Award".

She has worked with the VISION 2020 LINKS and the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust (QEDJT) fund to implement and develop Diabetic Retinopathy Screening (DRS) services, the first DRS site in Jamaica at the UHWI. For her work in DRS, she was invited to Buckingham Palace and met HRH Queen Elizabeth II. Dr Mowatt has been a major advocate for DRS and education in Jamaica. She has collaborated with ORBIS and the Flying Eye Hospital for training opportunities for residents, ophthalmologists, ophthalmic nurses and technicians over the years.

Dr Mowatt has held leadership positions both locally and regionally and has been actively involved in Ophthalmic societies, having organized over 30 scientific conferences in Jamaica and the Caribbean for Ophthalmologists and allied health care professionals, including Ophthalmic Nurses symposia, Ophthalmic Assistants and Technicians' conferences, workshops training Diabetic Retinopathy Screeners and graders and held public seminars on eye health.

Dr Valence A Jordan is a graduate of the University of the West Indies, Mona, where he completed his MBBS in 2010 and recently completed the DM Ophthalmology programme. Dr Dean is an active member of the ophthalmic and nursing community and capacity development within the Americas and the Caribbean, and is a senior member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses – amongst other members. She is one of the editors of the Ophthalmic nursing textbooks, Essentials of Ophthalmic Nursing. She is also a volunteer faculty on Orbis, the flying eye hospital and frequently travels with ORBIS around the world.

Alana L. Grajewski, M.D. is Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She hold the Kolokotrones Chair in Ophthalmology and is the Director & Chair of The Samuel & Ethel Balkan International Pediatric Glaucoma Center. Dr. Grajewski is and founder and president of the Childhood Glaucoma Research Network (CGRN), a network dedicated to the physicians and scientists who care for children with glaucoma worldwide. Grajewski received her undergraduate education at Stanford University where she graduated with Honors and attended the Chicago Medical School, graduating summa cum laude. She completed her ophthalmology training at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia followed by a two-year fellowship in glaucoma at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Grajewski is a recipient of the Honor and Senior Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the President’s Award from the American Glaucoma Society. She has been recognized nationally and internationally for her work in childhood glaucoma. In 2014 she received the Noel Rice Lectureship from the United Kingdom Pediatric Glaucoma Society, an international association of physicians sub-specialized in pediatric glaucoma. Since 1995, Grajewski has been selected as one of the Best Doctors in America each year. She is the recipient of the Woman of Vision award by the Weitzmann Institute of Science in Israel.

While Dr. Grajewski has been a leader in the care of adults with glaucoma, she is a pioneer in the field of childhood glaucoma. She established The GL Foundation for Children with Glaucoma in 1996 and in 2014, established the first international center for children with glaucoma, The Samuel & Ethel Balkan International Pediatric Glaucoma Center. Core to the mission of The Balkan Center in 2018 Dr. Grajewski founded Global Eye SITE®, an innovative program for training physicians from underserved regions. These surgeons return to their region to care for children locally and to then train other physicians. Following the success of this educational program, in 2019 Dr. Grajewski began a novel early screening program, SEE, screening everyone everywhere as a part of the larger initiative, PPB, Pediatric Preventable Blindness initiative which launched in Suriname.

Dr. Grajewski’s vision to provide an integrated care model for the treatment of childhood glaucoma, and a comprehensive center to coordinate research and train young physicians at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, has resulted in saving the vision of thousands of children in South Florida, the United States, and throughout the world.

Biodata for Prof. Lizette Mowatt MB; BS (UWI), MMedSci, FRCS (Ed), FRCOphth



Professor of Ophthalmology and the Residency Programme Coordinator for the DM Ophthalmology programme at The University of the West Indies (UWI). She is the Head of the Ophthalmology Division at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) and a Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon. Prof. Mowatt is the immediate Past President of the Ophthalmological Society of Jamaica (OSJ).

She is a graduate of the University of the West Indies (Mona) and did her six-year ophthalmology residency at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Center, Birmingham, West Midlands Training Programme, UK. During her residency, she did a Masters initially in Medical Education, then transferred to a Masters in Medical Sciences.

She completed her ophthalmology residency training achieving the Certification of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST, UK) in Ophthalmology (2002) and then proceeded to do her vitreoretinal fellowship in Birmingham, UK. She returned to the University of the West Indies, Mona, to implement and coordinate the DM Ophthalmology Residency Programme in September 2004, which has grown significantly over the past 20 years. She has been involved in undergraduate and postgraduate training at the UWI during this period.

Prof. Mowatt has published extensively in peer-review journals and has been a reviewer for over 17 ophthalmology journals, including Eye, BJO, Ophthalmology Retina, BMJ (Open), European Journal of Ophthalmology, etc. She has written four book chapters. Professor Mowatt was part of The Lancet Global Health Commission on Global Eye Health.

She is an avid educator and has presented over 115 lectures at scientific conferences locally, regionally and internationally, including in the UK, Spain, Cyprus, South Africa (Durban and Cape Town), Ethiopia, Mexico and USA. For her research on diabetic retinopathy, she won the Dean's Award in 2013 and the most Impactful presentation at the Ministry of Health and Wellness, National Health Research Conference in 2016.

She has worked with the VISION 2020 LINKS and the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust (QEDJT) fund to implement and develop Diabetic Retinopathy Screening (DRS) services, the first DRS site in Jamaica at the UHWI. For her work in DRS, she was invited to Buckingham Palace and met HRH Queen Elizabeth II. Prof Mowatt has been a major advocate for DRS and education in Jamaica. She has collaborated with ORBIS and the Flying Eye Hospital for training opportunities for residents, ophthalmologists, ophthalmic nurses and technicians over the years.

Prof. Mowatt has held leadership positions both locally and regionally and has been actively involved in Ophthalmic societies, having organized over 30 scientific conferences in Jamaica and the Caribbean for Ophthalmologists and allied health care professionals, including Ophthalmic Nurses symposia, Ophthalmic Assistants and Technicians' conferences, workshops training Diabetic Retinopathy Screeners and graders and held public seminars on eye health. Her research interests includes Diabetic Retinopathy, Sickle Retinopathy and Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP).

Dr. Fleming joined the UTHSC Department of Ophthalmology, Hamilton Eye Institute in 1997, as head of the Oculoplastic Service. In 2008, he was named the Philip M. Lewis Professor of Ophthalmology and in 2012, he became the sixth chair in the department’s 100-year history and served in that capacity until January 2017. He also served as the Director of the Hamilton Eye Institute. Dr. Fleming retired from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in December 2018. He was named Chair Emeritus in the College of Medicine for his many years of service to the University.

Dr. Fleming has traveled the world to volunteer his surgical expertise for improving the sight and lives of people in many nations. He has participated often with the World Cataract Foundation and ORBIS International in surgical teaching outreaches to countries including Ethiopia, Uganda, Indonesia, India, Peru, Mexico, Haiti, Panama and Jamaica.

Dr. Fleming has been the Director of the Oculoplastic Fellowship for 20 years. A recognized master clinician, Dr. Fleming is perennially recognized by “Best Doctors in America” and has received many awards both locally and nationally.

He has authored more than 75 scientific articles and given more than 200 talks across the world on Oculoplastic Surgery. He also has a deep interest in healthcare policy and an outstanding record of service to numerous organizations. He has served as President of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and of the Tennessee Medical Association. He also served as the chairman of the Tennessee Delegation to the American Medical Association (AMA) and also as Chair of the Southeast Delegation to the AMA.

Dr. Fleming’s wife of over 45 years, Anne, is a UTHSC College of Nursing graduate. They are the proud parents of two daughters, Rebecca a pathologist in New Orleans and Katherine a pediatrician at the CDC , and are very fortunate to have seven grandchildren.

Dr. Lynval Jones has achieved the relevant competences in general ophthalmology and received his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) from the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board (UK), in November 2007. He later completed a one year Advanced Subspecialty Training in Glaucoma, followed by fellowship training in complex surgical glaucoma management at the Birmingham and Midlands Eye Centre. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK).

Dr. Jones has been a consultant and Glaucoma lead at the University Hospital North Midlands, since July 2009, where he specialises in treating patients with glaucoma and cataract. His specialisation involves managing glaucoma with eye drops (medical glaucoma), lasers and surgery (surgical glaucoma). He performs trabeculectomy for patients with advanced glaucoma. He also carries out combined cataract and glaucoma surgery, such as combined phaco-trabeculectomy, combined phaco-cyclodiode, combined phaco-Istent and combined phaco-goniosynechialysis for patients with both cataracts and glaucoma. He also specialises in treating patients with narrow angle glaucoma with YAG laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI), Argon Laser Peripheral Iridoplasty (ALPI) and selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT).

Dr. Jones is experienced in managing complex cataracts operations related cataracts causing acute and chronic glaucoma, which require additional techniques to those required for routine cataract surgery. He has also served as the college tutor representative for University Hospitals North Midlands for 6 years and currently the QA lead for Health Education England working in the West Midlands.

Dr. Shamfa Peart completed her MBBS with distinction in 2008 at the UWI. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the International Council of Ophthalmology. She completed her DM Ophthalmology in 2017. She completed a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the University Hospitals of Leicester in the United Kingdom in 2019. She is currently practising at the Kingston Public Hospital and the Bustamante Hospital for Children. She is focused on establishing a comprehensive retinal service at both institutions.

Professor Christine Nelson is a renowned professor and expert in the field of Eye Plastic, Orbital, and Reconstructive Surgery. She received her Bachelor's degree in Biology from Wellesley College, followed by a medical degree from the University of Cincinnati. Prof. Nelson completed her postdoctoral training in Internal Medicine and Ophthalmology at the Washington Hospital Center and Duke University Eye Center, respectively.

She then pursued fellowships in Neuro-Ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Oculoplastic/Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, and Clinical Visiting Research Fellow at Moorsfields Eye Hospital in London. Prof. Nelson is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and holds ABMS Ophthalmology licensure.

Prof. Nelson has had an illustrious academic career with numerous academic, administrative, clinical, research, and military appointments. She has held various academic appointments, including Clinical Instructor at the University of Miami and University of California, San Francisco. She later became an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she was promoted to Associate Professor and awarded tenure. Currently, Prof. Nelson is a Professor of Surgery in the Section of Plastic Surgery and Eye Plastic, Orbital and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She holds the Bartley R. Frueh, M.D. and Frueh Family Collegiate Professorship in Eye Plastics and Orbital Surgery at the University of Michigan.

Prof. Nelson has made significant contributions to the field of Eye Plastic, Orbital, and Reconstructive Surgery through her extensive research and publications. She has also trained and mentored numerous students and residents throughout her career.

Dr. Hugh L. Vaughan CD MBBS FRCS, FACS, FRCO phth, Dip Mgnt Stds (Hons)

A fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh since 1978, has worked as consultant opthalmologist at the Royal Victoria Eye Infirmary Mansion House Rd Paisley Scotland and at the eye clinics of the KPH and UWI hospitals Jamaica as well as in private practice for several years. He has a distinguished career performing various ophthalmic surgeries including anterior segment, Glaucoma, Strabismus, Vitreo-Retinol surgery and corneal transplants.

He formed and was the founding president of the Opthalmology Society of Jamaica and the Ophthalmology society of the West Indies.

For many years he was the Radio eye doctor on Taking Care of Business a popular radio show. This changed the public’s view on eye care and allowed many to understand that blindness was preventable and sometimes curable.

Up until his retirement He was an avid bird watcher. He is married to Elaine Veronica and has 4 adult sons, 3 grandsons and a grand daughter.

Dr Bowman is a consultant paediatric ophthalmologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and Honorary Associate Professor at Institute of Child Health and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

His clinical interests are paediatric neuro-ophthalmology and strabismus. Dr Bowman's research interests also include international child eye health and retinoblastoma.

He has lived and worked as an Ophthalmologist in Africa for around 10 years.

Dr. Basil K. Williams Jr. is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, FL.

He is the department’s Vice Chair for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and an Associate Residency Program Director. Basil specializes in ocular oncology and vitreoretinal surgery and diseases.

He completed his residency, vitreoretinal fellowship and chief residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute followed by an Ocular Oncology fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital.

He currently serves as the co-chair of the Early Career Section for the American Society of Retina Specialists, the immediate past-president of the PanAmerican Ocular Oncology Society, and the chair elect of the ophthalmology section of the National Medical Association.

He was born in St. George’s Grenada and grew up in the Bronx, NY. His research interests pertain to health care disparities, adult and pediatric surface and intraocular tumors, and vitreoretinal surgical topics.

Dr. Ronnie Bhola was born in Trinidad and did his MBBS degree at UWI, Jamaica and qualified as a consultant with sub-specialty training in Vitreous and Retina Surgery, in the UK.

In 2008, he returned home and continued to do more and more surgeries both in the public and private health care systems. Over time, he became fixated with cataract surgery, complexed intra ocular surgery and retina surgery.

He is a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK), a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh), and holds a Certificate of Completion of Higher Specialist Training from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK).

Dr. Bhola is enthusiastic about learning, development and knowledge sharing as it relates to developing aspiring ophthalmologists, research and surgical techniques. This is evidenced by his more than fifty peer-reviewed publications, numerous conference presentations both regionally and internationally and his commitment to spend over 300 hours annually in educational teaching sessions with residents of ophthalmology.

He is the Vice President of the Ophthalmological Society of the West Indies (OSWI), the Public Relations Officer for the Ophthalmological Society of Trinidad & Tobago and an Adjunct Professor with the Moran Eye Center. Biodata for Dr. Miguel Johnson
Dr. Miguel Johnson is a proud graduate of the University of the West Indies where he completed his medical training and attained the M.B., B.S degree. He then went on to pursue his Doctor of Medicine (DM) in Plastic Surgery and has subsequently undergone extensive training in both locally and internationally.

This involved spending an intense period of 2 years at several institutions in London and the United Kingdom, Including: The McIndoe Centre, Queen Victoria Hospital; A world renown burns, breast and reconstructive surgery centre.

He is an avid member of several international societies including the British Association of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (BAPRAS), The British Association of Aesthetics Plastic Surgeon (BAAPS), as well as the America Association of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), among others.

Dr. Kern Pemberton is a Radiation/Clinical Oncologist at the Kingston Public Hospital, PRIME Medical at Half Way Tree and St. Joseph’s Hospital National Cancer Treatment Centre where he also functions as the Clinical Director.

He is a graduate of the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica and became a fellow of the College of Radiation Oncologists, South Africa having trained for 4 years at the Groote Schuur Hospital and University of Cape Town. He has commenced his fellowship at the Royal College of Radiologists, United Kingdom.

He diversified his portfolio having completed diplomas in and exposure to Governance and Public Innovation, Managing Personal Finance and Property Development and Investments. His areas of interest include neurological, gynecological and prostate cancers with a keen fascination for stereotactic radiotherapy having introduced such in Jamaica in December, 2023 at the Radiation Oncology Centre of Jamaica.

His hobbies include tennis, swimming, equestrianism, gym, pilates and music with a new found interest in refurbishing wooden furniture.

I have been in private practice in Santa Cruz for over 35 years and have several satellite offices.

I have attended various courses abroad - including a one-month surgical training course in India and a training workshop on scleral contact lenses in the U.S.A.

I am particularly interested in keratoconus and its treatment ,and offer corneal collagen crosslinking ,and fitting of scleral contact lenses. I enjoy doing CMEs,and general research as to what’s new in ophthalmology.

I collect ophthalmic literature,and enjoy a wide variety of music and foods . I presently serve on the Board of the Southern Regional Health Authority.
